Images are an important tool when sending an email to your subscribers. Email Service Providers are cracking down on images and putting it all into science. To fight back, we need to understand the latest digital advertising advice to provide images to our subscribers.
To ensure your subscribers’ satisfaction, consider this as a checklist, to cover all basis of your image settings.
First Step:
When uploading an Image, please make sure your file NAME is short and clean. If you are Google searching an image to add it to your email. Make sure to rename your image appropriately. In some cases, the name of the image is too long and will get lost somewhere in the delivery to your subscriber’s email box. We recommend using numbers or abbreviate it.
Example: Profilpicture.jpg = Propic.jpg or Pp.jpg
Second Step:
With so many images format which one should you choose? There is no right answer to this question. There are articles explaining what each format is capable of. As long as it is JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG, any other formats might not be as supportive as these.
Third Step:
Image size is also very important. One thing to consider is that you are sending an email with an image attached to it. Consider images that will fit perfectly when reading it from your smartphone. Adding a wallpaper sized image to your email is not a good way to send an email.
Images that’ll most likely fit a mobile device will be around 640px, 740px or 800px wide. You can use any photo editor to make adjustments. Also, If you know HTML or CSS you can create adjustment using your email on our “My Template” section of your account. Click <> to enter and make any necessary adjustment there.
Fourth Step:
Before sending an Email out to your subscriber, best practice is to send a test email to make sure your subscribers are viewing your email the Perfect way. If you really want to, you can send an actual Campaign to yourself so you can see what it will look like. Consider that when you do send a Campaign, you will not be able to delete it for account reputation management purposes.
